R. Strauss: Divertimento (on Themes of Couperin)

Prokofiev: Symphony No. 1, D major (Classical Symphony, Op. 25)

Tchaikovsky: Suite No. 1, Op. 43, D minor

These three great composers of the 19^th and 20^th centuries pay tribute to their classical predecessors with these witty, sparkling compositions, masterfully imitating the Baroque style. Yet, you’ll still notice distinct flavors of German expressionism, sweet nostalgia of Russian romanticism, and some “spices” of 20^th century modernism.
