Weber’s brilliant Overture to Oberon evokes a magical atmosphere of a medieval fairy tale, setting the stage for the exciting debut of rising star, Edisher Savitski, who simply “takes off to the sky” in Prokofiev’s wild and striking Third Piano Concerto. One of the best works of Robert Schumann, his innovative Fourth Symphony called initially “A Symphonic Fantasy,” is admired by audiences for an abundance of beautiful, soaring melodies and contrasting, stormy, ecstatic and triumphal episodes.
